Review of Our Stay at Dogwood Springs Campground Resort in Jasper, AR

When I heard that some friends of ours were spending the weekend RV'ing near the Buffalo River, I couldn't resist getting a little nosy to see where they'd be camped at in the hopes that we may be able to swing a little weekend trip ourselves and spend some time with our friends. I really lucked out that they were staying at Dogwood Springs Campground Resort, because even though they very graciously offered for us to stay with them in their RV, the resort also had cabins in addition to RV and tent sites. Even luckier still that we snagged their last available cabin!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating! We received a very warm welcome and were greeted at our cabin by some cheerful teens, family members of the owners, helping around the park and making sure we had everything we needed, including firewood if we wanted to use our fire ring. This Christian family owned resort was every bit family friendly in all aspects. As a mom who frequently goes on big adventures alone with two children, I can tell you that being in a safe and family friendly environment is top priority. At Dogwood Springs, I felt very comfortable and relaxed about staying overnight on our own for the weekend.

The 4 acre campground offers:
  • 20 RV Sites, 8 Tent Sites, 9 Cabins
  • A swimming pool
  • Pavilion
  • Picnic tables, fire rings and lots of shade trees at most sites
  • Full hook-ups, 50 and 30 amp electrical services
  • Pull thru sites and secluded sites
Their cabins are all very reasonably priced per night ranging from cabins with only the bare necessities to multi-room cabins with fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. All units are equipped with AC, cable TV, and are smoke free.

Our cabin/cottage, #18, was absolutely perfect for our small weekend getaway-very clean and cozy! It had 2 full size futons downstairs and a small upstairs loft where the kids slept, a small but fully equipped kitchen, a small bathroom with a shower, AC and gas heater, and cable tv. The kids thought it was coolest place they'd ever seen and even asked if we could live there forever haha!

When we were at the campground we hung out at my friend's RV site while the kids ran around the resort which was a very low traffic area and we were at ease being able to see them in nearly any direction from the site. They have a small playground area with lots of extra bikes and scooters for kids staying at the campground. My friends had also brought along one of their motorized toys for the kids, so they drove that thing around and also played at the playground with some of the other kids from the neighboring sites. Again, all very family friendly and just a really enjoyable experience all around-lots of fun for the kids!

By day we were out adventuring.
My friends had never been to the Buffalo so I showed them some of my personal favorite spots!

Unfortunately Triple Falls was completely dry on our visit so i'll show you a picture
from a previous trip after the area had a few good days of rain. This place really never disappoints no matter when you go, but seeing it in it's triple fall majesty is truly breathtaking!

One of the most beautiful places you'll ever see!
The best part is that this trail is very family friendly, the first half mile is even wheelchair and stroller friendly. You'll see waterfalls, caves, and beautiful forest. Put this trail on your Must See list for sure!

Steel Creek will never disappoint in beauty no matter what time of year you visit. It's one of our favorite swimming holes in the Summer, and a favorite place to see Fall color in all of it's glory! There is also a campground in this area as well.

In the evenings back at the campground, we grilled out, made s'mores,
and let the kids stay up late playing around the campground.

Overall we had really wonderful weekend at Dogwood Springs Campground Resort. We were happy with our cabin and  the campground and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and affordable getaway to the Buffalo area, and also to families looking for a safe and family friendly environment to camp or cabin stay.
