Deer Leap Trail at Roaring River State Park in Missouri

Deer Leap Trail at Roaring River State Park

Deer Leap has two trailheads on either side of the hatchery. The one closest to the river and parking lot is the easiest and fastest way to get to the lookout point and you could just go right back down the same way you came up, or you could finish the rest of the trail going downhill and end up on the other side of the hatchery. Both trailheads start you out going up rocky steps, it's just that one side is more difficult..None of it actually very difficult. even my 2 1/2 year old managed fairly well with some help, but if you need or want an easier climb to the lookout, start at the trailhead nearest the parking lot. The lookout is great and because this trail is so easy and short, you really shouldn't miss it!

About halfway through the trail, you'll find the trailhead to Firetower Trail. At 3 1/2 miles, it is the longest trail at the park.

  1. Can we bring our small dog on the trails? She has a leash of course. And is the trail open on Sunday's? Hours?
